School of Sciences
College of Science of Jiamusi University, as a large-scale, strong and comprehensive college, was built in August 1999. During the past ten years since its building, the college has made achievements in teaching, scientific research, subject construction and students work. At present, the college consists of five departments, namely Mathematics Department, Physics Department, Resources and Environment Science Department, Basic Mathematics Teaching Department and Basic Physics Teaching Department. It includes three undergraduate specialties, i.e. Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, physics and Geographical Science, and one special specialty, Resource Environment and Urban-Rural Planning Management. The college now has three school-level top-quality courses, three school-level research institutes, one school-level key subject, one school-level characteristic supporting subject, two open laboratories, six practice bases, and more than thirty teaching practice bases . There are 111 teachers , among whom 90 are full-time, including 12 professors, 26 associate professors, 39 teachers with master degree, 14 in-school masters, 1 school-level master teacher. The educational background level of teaching staff has been raised year by year. The teachers have made great progress in teaching and scientific research and more than 400 papers were published and a number of them were indexed by "SCI" and "EI" in recent years. They undertook 27 provincial-level subjects, more than 60 school-level subjects and more than 80 sub-projects of the project "Innovative Education Research and Experiment" which is an important project in National education and research "Tenth Five-Year Plan" program meanwhile. In recent years, they have obtained province and minister level awards for more than 24 items, the city and school level awards for more than 10 items. The college actively developed academic activities and communication activities with other universities, frequently invited experts and scholars in and out of JMS university to give reports, and successfully hosted the meeting "Heilongjiang Higher Normal Physics Major Committee and the third plenary meeting of Institute of Electronics Council's fifth Council". We always adhere to the education management philosophy of "people-oriented, health-oriented" in students work, vigorously developed scientific and technological activities among students and obtained good results. They have been successively appraised as province-level "5 • 4 Red Flag League", province-level "Students Work advanced collective", "scientific and technological activities of university students demonstration unit", school-level "employment work advanced collectives" and so on. Since past decade, they have cultured and transported more than 3000 graduates. College party committee has ever obtained honorary titles of "advanced base party organizations" award by province higher education working committee, of city-level "party conduct incorruptness advanced collective", of school-level "excellent teaching unit" and so on. Meanwhile, they have been awarded many times the honorary titles, such as school advanced collective, advanced party organization and advanced unit in developing party members work.
Brief Introduction to Physics
Physics department of College of Science of Jiamusi University, formerly known as the Physics Department of Jiamusi Teachers College, began the recruitment of normal school students in 1978. With the Jiamusi University becoming a co-educational college in 1996, there were more than 1411 specially physical teachers and 89 physical undergraduates had been trained . In 1996, with the establishment of Jiamusi University, Physics Department achieved great development, and in 1996 began the full recruitment of undergraduate students. Up to now, a total of more than 1,100 undergraduate has been trained. Now there are more than 100 undergraduate students, 18 full-time teachers, including 2 professors, 7 associate professors, 5 lecturers and 4 teaching assistants in the department. For three decades, Physics Department always has a traditional history in teaching and academic research. The main research directions are quantum mechanics, solid mechanics, electromagnetism materials, etc., which are the source of important subjects in physics, the important projects financially aided by National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Training objectives This major mainly cultures students with the abilities of teaching physics in high school and middle school, teaching and research staff and other educators, who master the basic theory , basic knowledge and basic methods of physical sciences, and be able to apply physical knowledge and the computers to solve a number of practical physics problems .
Basic specifications and requirements The students mainly study the basic theory and methods of physics, accept strict physical thinking training, and master the basic principles and application of computer tools. Through educational curricula and teaching practice theory links , they will get some qualities and abilities ,for becoming a good teacher, in physics teaching, physics education research, physics science research, physics practical applications , and so on. Undergraduates should have the knowledge and capabilities as following: 1. Havinga solid physical basis, preliminarily master scientific methods of thinking, including physical calculations and the abilities to solve practical problems. 2. Having good teacher professionalism and the ability to engage in physics teaching, can be familiar with educational laws and regulations, and grasp using of pedagogy, psychology and the basic theory and physics teaching theory. 3. Understanding the overview of development of modern physics and its role, the latest developments in physics science, the latest research results and teaching methods in physics field, and the general principles and knowledge about similar major, learn penetration of arts courses, and access to a wide range of cultivation of the humanities. 4. Strengthening language skills and classroom management. 5. Accessing to information query, document retrieval and use of modern information technology to get basic methods on relevant information, and have some research capabilities.
Academic and degree Four years school system, the students can graduate after completing a required graduation credits and the student who meets the conditions granting bachelor's degree, the Bachelor of Science degree will be awarded.

Introduction to Mathematics and Applied Mathematics
Mathematics Department of College of Science of Jiamusi University, formerly known as Jiamusi normal college began the recruitment of normal school students in 1970, until 1978 there were more than 667 graduates of 6 terms. Since 1977, it opened its doors to junior college students, until 1988 the students summed to 1568 of 22 terms. In 1977, 1988, 1989 and 1990, four undergraduate students enrolled successively summed up 172. In 1996, with the establishment of Jiamusi University, Mathematics Department achieved great development, and in 1997 began the recruitment of undergraduate students. Now the Department has more than 300 undergraduate students, 18 full-time teachers, including 1 professor, 9associate professors, 7 lecturers, 1 teaching assistants. Introduction to the Department of Resources and Environmental Sciences The Department of Resources and Environmental Sciences was founded in 1983, which formerly named as Department of Geography. There was only one major, which was Geography Education, being the specialist level. The students in Geography Education were enrolled from 1983. In 1997, Geography Education Major was named as the key major of Heilongjiang Province; in 1999, the Geography Education Major of Department was upgraded to undergraduate level, accordingly major name changed to "geographical science ", which is still teacher education major. The undergraduate-level students of geographical science were enrolled from 1999.Geographical science (s) inherited the title of the key major of Heilongjiang Province. In 2000, the Resources and the Environment and Urban and Rural Planning and Management Major was set up at a specialist level, and the specialist students were enrolled from 2000.At present, there were more than 150 students of the undergraduate and specialist in the Department, and Geographical science (s) major now is the characteristic major of the university . The department currently has 14 full-time teachers, including 4 professors, 6 associate professors and 4 lecturers, among whom there are 3 masters and 2 masters in reading. Training objectives Geography science major trains the teachers, teaching and research staff and other educators who should master the basic theory, basic knowledge and basic methods and carry out geographical teaching and teaching in higher or secondary schools. 2. The basic specifications and requirements The students mainly study the basic theory and methods of geography, accepting strict training of geographical thinking and geographical competent, formatting a good teacher quality through educational curricula and teaching practice theory links, obtaining the basic abilities engaged in geographical teaching and a variety of basic skills engaged in geographical education research, geographical science research, geographical practical applications and so on. Graduates should have the knowledge and capabilities as the following: 1). Having a solid basic theory, basic knowledge, mastering basic experimental skills and the basic thinking of Geographical science; 2). Mastering education laws and regulations, grasping and making the use of and the basic theory of Education and psychology, with good quality of the teachers the basic capabilities involved in geography teaching; 3). Academic and degree School system is four years, and the students are granted graduation only completing a required 185 credits (including selective course of 13.5 credits, and public elective of nine credits, practice teaching of 37 credits). The graduates have the knowledge and capabilities of the following aspects: 1). Master the basic theories and methods of Resources and Environment and Urban and Rural Planning and Management Major; 2).Understanding the relevant policies and regulations of resources development and environmental protection; 3). With the capacity of town planning, particularly planning in urban residential district; 4). Master the basic methods obtaining relevant information through the access to information query, document retrieval and use of modern information technology, and have some research capabilities; 5).with the certain administrative capacity. 3.Academic The major education system is two-year specialist.
