Mechanical Design Manufacture and its Automation of Mechanical Engineering College was established in 1958, which is one of the earliest majors. This major is formed by integrating the former three majors of Process and Equipment of Mechanical Manufacturing, Mechanotronics and Mechanical Design according to the undergraduate subject catalogues in 1997. This major has been awarded with four consecutive provincial key major in 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005. Over the years, our purpose is to train qualified senior personnel in the service of the local economic construction and social development. So far we have trained more than 5,000 undergraduates.  Based on the previous major conditions and by planning, construction and investment for years, this major now has a strong teaching and research capabilities through cooperation with school and enterprise and through integration of production, learning and research. The specialty owns a complete set of experiment equipments and rich teaching power. We can train not only undergraduate but also graduate students. To undergraduate, our training pattern is to train such personnel possessing solid academic foundation with high quality and flexible adaptation to new changes and profound potential capacity. Our purpose is to train the high-level engineering technology talent, who has elementary knowledge and application ability for machinery design and manufacture and who can engage in the machine manufacture domain such as the design manufacture, the technical development, the applied research, the operational management and marketing etc. This major presently sets four distinct specialties such as Mechanical Manufacturing, Mechanotronics, Mechanical Design, Mold Design and Fabrication. On the basis of high quality undergraduate teaching, the major pay much attention to co-development of teaching and scientific research. Separately in 1997 and 2003, the master's degree awarding Machinery Design Manufacture and its Automation and Mechanical Design and Theory were granted. By combining graduate students training, eight stable research directions have come into being, including Machine Manufacturing Process and Automation, the Metal Cutting Principle and Tool Technology, the Electromechanical Integration and Advanced Manufacturing Technology, the Fluid and Control Technology, Mechanics and the Mechanical Kinetics, the Mechanism Intensity Study, the Machine Design and the Transmission Mechanics. The achievements in scientific research increase year by year, which have the significant impact on the provincial economy development.
       This major possesses 44 teachers and engineering technicians, including 37 full-time teachers and 7 seven experimental teachers. There are 8 professors, 21 associate professors, and 6 senior engineers and experimentalists. Teacher's education level also enhances year by year. There are 6 doctors and 6 doctorial students, 20 masters and 6 postgraduate students. There are three distinguished teachers of Jiamusi University, one provincial-level excellent course, two school-level excellent courses and one school-level distinguished teaching group. Based on above-mentioned factors, an echelon of teaching and research has initially formed with age structure optimization and higher educational level.
      In the recent five years, this major has been undertaking 18 teaching researches, including 6 provincial or ministerial key projects. The faculty has won 10 achievements for teaching and research including 6 provincial or ministerial, and has published 16 textbooks. At the same time, this major has been undertaking 36 scientific research projects including 16 provincial or ministerial projects, and has won 15 achievement awards for scientific research. The faculty has published 160 academic papers, including more than 30 papers indexed by SCI, EI or ISTP.
